a short #jikookAU in which JK, still high on anesthesia after getting his wisdom teeth removed, falls in love with his husband JM all over again

JK blinks his eyes open, his surroundings slowly coming into focus. Sterile white walls, bright lights, the low hum of some type of machinery—A hospital room. Disoriented, he tries to sit up, only to be met with heavy drowsiness that forces back down with a groan.

“JK,” a soft voice, like a melody, reaches his ears. He turns his head and his eyes go wide when he finds the literal epitome of beauty sitting beside his bed. A guy in a fluffy black sweater with soft looking blond hair, full lips, and the cutest button nose JK has ever seen.

His eyes are big, his lashes long and there is the hint of a natural flush on his cheeks. Well, maybe JK was wrong. Maybe this isn’t a hospital room. Maybe this is actually heaven that coincidentally looks like a hospital room because, damn, that’s an angel, right?

“How are you feeling?” The angel asks with a soft smile that has JK’s belly swoop. “I’m—” He trails off. His mouth feels numb and weird. Is this what being in heaven feels like? He doesn’t like this at all. He frowns. Wait a minute. If this is heaven— doesn't that mean—

Is he DEAD?! Did he DIE?! Hastily, he tries to sit up. When? How? WHY?! “Hey, hey—” The angel surges to his feet and pushes him back into the pillow. “Calm down, everything's okay.” Then he presses a button that makes the bed under JK’s shoulder rise, bringing him into a

sitting position. “Are you in pain?” JK shakes his head, his eyes filling with tears. “No, b-but I’m dead, right? What happened? How did I die?” A frown appears on the angel's face before he chuckles. “You’re not dead, JK. Don’t worry.” He sits down on his chair again.

“I'm not?” JK blinks. “But isn’t this heaven? You’re an angel, right?” “Oh this is good,” a new voice suddenly pops up and a dark-haired guy appears behind the angel, with a phone in his hand. “I’m totally gonna film this.” The angel clicks his tongue, giving the new guy with

the phone a stern look, but it’s obvious that he’s trying to hold back from laughing himself. “Don’t be mean.” Then his eyes find JK’s again and he smiles fondly. "I'm not an angel, and you're not in heaven. You're in the hospital. You got your wisdom teeth removed."

“Oh.” JK doesn't remember any of that. He blinks in confusion. “And who are you?” The angel’s smile softens. “I’m JM.” Wow. Even his name is pretty. And if he isn't dead, and this isn’t heaven, and JM isn’t an angel— JK might have a shot. Driven by courage (or maybe it’s the

lingering effects of whatever makes his head so drowsy), JK licks his numb lips. “Well, JM, why are you here?” His words slur a little. “Because of back pain?” The angel – JM – straightens in his seat, looking confused. “Back pain?” “Because it must have hurt when you

fell from heaven.” The corners of JM’s mouth twitch in amusement. “I already told you, I’m not an angel.” “Oh? Are you a little devil then?” JK grins. “Are you naughty?” The other guy, still holding his phone, cackles loudly and JK sends him a glare. Why is he still filming

him?! Before he can call the dude out, however, he’s distracted by JM’s cheeks flushing in a pretty pink color. “What are you even saying?” He splutters cutely, giving JK’s arm a light slap, squirming in his seat, clearly flustered. Oh, JK likes that. “Well, it would make

sense,” he points out, determined to get more of that reaction. “You’re hot as hell. You’re so hot, I’m sure the sun is jealous.” At JM turning an even deeper shade of pink, he goes on. “Or are you the sun itself? You’re definitely shining just as bright. Actually, that would

come in handy because—” In a daring move, he lets his gaze wander down JM’s sitting form, sending a pointed look into his lap. “I could use some vitamin D.” He wiggles his eyebrows. “Okay, that’s enough,” JM squeaks, face bright red with embarrassment. Oops, maybe that

was a bit too much. In the back, the other dude is practically howling with laughter. “I’m sorry, angel,” JK apologizes in a quick attempt at damage control. “You’re just so pretty.” He reaches out to take JM’s hand. “Keep your evening free, yeah? I really wanna take you out

on a date.” When the guy in the back snorts out another loud laugh, JK has had enough. “Okay, who the hell are you?” He snaps. The guy chuckles, wiping a tear from the corner of his eyes. “I’m TH, your best friend.” JK frowns. “You’re ruining the mood.”

“Sorry, bro.” The guy takes a step back, still filming. “Ignore me.” JK sends him another glare and huffs, before looking at JM again, who’s still slightly flushed but for some reason also looking amused, his hand warm in JK’s hold. JK tightens his grip. “So? What do

you think?” “I appreciate the offer," JM chuckles. "But I already have plans tonight.” JK pouts. “What about tomorrow then? Or the day after tomorrow? Wait, what day is it?” “It’s Wednesday.” “Okay, maybe Saturday?” “Hm—” JM seems deep in thought. “I don't know how my

husband would feel about it.” JK’s heart sinks. Of course this gorgeous man is already taken. “Oh,” he mumbles and pulls his hand back, feeling dejected, only now noticing the ring on JM’s finger. “Well, I hope he’s treating you right.” “He is. He’s the best husband in
