i am about to make a thread about a personal belief i feel strongly about, i'm deeply sorry in advance🧵

kids only know what adults, institutions, & accessible media teaches them. despite how we romanticize childhood/adolescence, deep down we all know that it is not easy to be young. the more cruelty people internalize while young, the more cruelty they externalize as they get older
never forget that kids & teens are not inherently dangerous. it is adults who corrupt & weaponize the idea of them as an excuse to enforce order thru violence. Compassion for people who are still developing cognitively & emotionally is 100% necessary for a brighter global future
it’s reasonable to acknowledge the risks of adult/minor interaction & to opt out. But know that it is adults who create & enforce that rift. Kids are only curious & desire explorative autonomy. Its reactionary adults who are terrified of how this fact affects their own status quo
tl;dr its never constructive to be hostile toward minors. Any misfortune you experience as a result of well-intentioned interaction w/ minors is almost always a result of the punitive designs of adult social structures which only perpetuate the alienation & confusion of young ppl
