The best drug of the 21st century: Making money doing something you love. This is my "Self-Interview" framework for finding what you're meant to do:

Why I love the Self-Interview: It solves an age-old paradox... What you're "passionate" about doesn't always make money. And what makes you money doesn't always spark your fire inside. This is a method to balance both worlds...

You'll be conducting a mini-interview with yourself. By the end, you'll have clarity on what you're best suited for. Grab a pen and paper:

First, write down your Peaks and Valleys. • When, professionally, have you felt your most inspired & fulfilled? • What about times you'd have rather been paid to beat your head against a wall? Write down 3 for each.

Now: what SPECIFICALLY made you feel that at the time in each? After listing these reasons for each of your 3 Peaks and 3 Valleys... You have a list of what drives you. For example:

@Codie_Sanchez

Your Peaks might look like: • I learned a lot • I was challenged • I met great people The Valleys might be: • Long hours • I did repetitive work • I had an unreasonable boss Now, you've got a list of 6 work values:

• Learning • Type of work • Quality of people • Exercising your skill • Environment/culture • Control over schedule Once you do this for all your Peaks & Valleys, you should have a list of 10-15 values.

These are your Fulfilment Pillars. Now, rank them from most to least important. Then put this aside for a moment.

Next, we're going to borrow from the concept of 'ikigai'. List 3 things... • You love to do • You're good at • You can be paid for • You think the world needs Ideally, we start to find some overlap...

@Codie_Sanchez

For example: • I love to write • I'm reasonably good at it (some days) • It brings me money-making opportunities (via the newsletter, etc) • The world needs more people sharing finance knowledge in an accessible way For me, writing intersects all 4 ikigai questions.

Now, take your ikigai answer and go back to your Fulfillment Pillars. Take the top 5 pillars. For me, maybe it's: • Collaborating with smart people • Control over my time • Continuous learning • Interesting work • Positive impact

Now ask: does the work from my ikigai test fulfill these 5 pillars? Tick yes/no for each. For me & writing, I'd say yes to all. If 4-5 out of these 5 are fulfilled, you've found something that'll keep you fulfilled for years.

And what if you go through all this and STILL don't know what the hell you're meant to do...? That just means you haven't tried enough things yet. Get out there and see what you're capable of.
