modern au dragon lqr gets a text from cssr that reads: "forgot some supplies! dropped the new baby off at ur place. will be right back! xoxoxo" cue lqr bolting for the door and throwing it open to witness the tiniest fox pup in a pile of blankets in a basket, on his doorstep.
the thing is: to lqr's knowledge, cssr doesn't have a child. she'd just gotten married to wcz less than a year ago. and while enough time has passed that cssr *could* have had a child, lqr hadn't heard anything about her being pregnant or giving birth.
the fox pup is absolutely tiny and fuzzy in a way that only newborns are. it is so young that its little ears are still soft and floppy. its grey eyes are barely open and it blearily looks at lqr. lqr desperately hopes he's not the first person it saw.
lqr also has no idea whether this baby is cssr's by blood or if she picked it up somewhere. he has no idea which one he would prefer. he hurries to bring the tiny pup indoors.
lwj and lxc are both curious about the visitor. neither of them are old enough to morph into their human forms yet—although lqr suspects lxc will be able to, any-day now—so they both crowd around the basket in dragon form, their lil white snouts twitching as they sniff the pup.
the pup is too young—or weak?—to sniff back. it can only squirm. it shuffles half-blindly among the blankets and lets out a small, pitiful squeak. lqr's heart squeezes like an orange slice in a juicer and he picks the basket back up, out of his nephews' reach.
the next hour is spent juggling between calling cssr's cell for the nth time, panic-searching online for how to care for baby foxes, and holding the little fox pup inside his shirt, against his skin, so that it can be warm. he can feel each of the little fox pup's breaths. 🥺🥺
lqr: oh my god i cannot believe cssr's lack of responsibility wth am i supposed to do with this child bby wwx: *makes one small noise* lqr: lqr, near tears: i am never going to emotionally recover from raising three babies by myself
cssr returns after roughly three hours (there was a flash sale at her fave supermarket and she needed both arms free to shove people out of the way) to find her liddol a-ying Fully incorporated into the lan family—soft white-blue blankets and bottles and all.
