So, without thinking it through, he walks into a coffee shop, completely forgetting that he’s got a ticking time bomb (his daughter) in toe and that he probably /shouldn’t/ enter a shop with so many colourful drinks she and her ADHD ass can’t have.
“Papaaa..” Oh no. That tone. The horror. Mo Ran turns with a smile on his face. “Yes, sweetheart?” “I want that one!” she points to the large CAFFEINATED item on the menu. Fuck.
Mo Ran takes a deep breath, knowing /that/ tone and knowing this was 99.99999% likely going to end in a full-on meltdown, waterworks and all. “That’s coffee, babygirl. You can’t have that. We’re just gonna get Papa a drink and then we’ll- Hey, hey, c’mon don’t cry, baby.”
Just as Mo Ran was bracing himself to futilely coax his crying daughter, the barista who was in the kitchen awhile ago spoke “Excuse me, sir.” Mo Ran looked up. And suddenly Mo Ran’s ten times more flustered. FUCK. His daughter couldn’t find a worse time to throw a tantrum
Mo Ran gave the HOT barista a nervous smile. “Erm, sorry. I’ll go take her outside.” The barista frowned. On his nametag read: Chu Wanning. Goddamn. Mo Ran wished he could ask for his number. But even someone as shameless as Mo Ran knew better than to do so right now.
To anyone, the prospect of being hit on by someone with a crying kid in toe is horrifying. Not to mention a major nuisance. But Chu Wanning doesn’t look annoyed. He didn’t seem very used to children but he didn’t throw Mo Ran one of those disapproving dirty looks some people-
like to give parents when they ‘couldn’t control their children’ when kids are being kids in public.
Chu Wanning looks kind and gentle AND woah. Drop dead gorgeous. Mo Ran needs to remember to get one of his men to find out more about this cafe in /detail/. Is Chu Wanning an employee here or the owner? He looks really capable. If he’s an employee, is his boss treating him well?
Immediately like one of those cliche hopeless romantics creeps who imagine and fantasize who lives together the second they see someone attractive accidentally giving them attention, Mo Ran wonders if this coffee shop is, dunno, maybe up for sale?
Ain’t no way Chu Wanning would give Mo Ran his number despite being an understanding person in the face of Mo Ran’s menace of a child, but… Mo Ran will have a shot if Mo Ran’s his boss right? Shit. Like a creep he thought of all this in a few split seconds
aaand his kid is still crying.
Mo Ran forced his own ADHD ass (yea his daughter has gotta get that from /somewhere/) to focus on trying to drag his daughter outside and coaxing her to calm down. Mo Ran: “C’mon, sweetheart. Come. Let’s calm down first, yea? Let’s not hold up the line” Chu Wanning: “Hold on.”
And Mo Ran held the fuck on. Chu Wanning bent down over the counter (woah, this man is pretty tall. That’s hot. Mo Ran’s stupid dog brain supplied suuuper helpfully. He wondered what Chu Wanning would look like bending down like that from /the other/ side).
Chu Wanning, to Mo Ran’s daughter: “Hey there.” Mo Ran’s daughter, the diva, choked out a few sobs. “H-Hello…” Her pudgy hands to her lips, looking super wronged. Chu Wanning gave her a gentle smile. A bit at a loss but trying.
Chu Wanning: “How about I make you something like that but with just milk, hm? I can make the milk into foam for you if you want. Do you like whipped cream?” Mo Ran’s daughter blinked, no longer crying. “What’s a whipped cweam..?” Mo Ran thinks he’s in love.
