We will somewhere totally diff.
Here comes the Toungoo Dynasty, the largest empire SEA has ever seen.
At the realpolitik core it was a military junta, administered through sheer strength.
They practiced Theravada Buddhism.
Notice Manipur on the Map.

Now the main major history of Manipur. One of the longest running lineage. Founded in 33CE. Yup its 1993 years old.

They practiced an indigenous religion called Sanamahism, sort of an animist belief system.
Later comes the Hindu ruler, Gharib Niwaz.

Enters the king Gharib Niwaz. Originally born to a Naga tribal house, he used the weakened Toungoo dynasty to consolidate power and end their military rule.
Changed the name of the land from Kangleipaak to the Sanskrit Manipur (मणिपुर), meaning the land of gems.

To integrate the land of gems (मणिपुर) to the greater Bharat subcontinent he introduced Sanatan in the state, at the same time keeping animist traditions alive.
As he was a Naga himself.
We see the cultural influences everywhere in Manipur.

Here comes the geography-pill. As the land of manipur has the valley in the middle which has been the major place for civilization throughout since the dawn of when humans arrived there, administration, bureaucracy was at all time governed from the valley.

Here comes the history-pill again.
After slowly loosing grip over the land, due to poor economy, bureaucracy and others, the "land-of-gems" came to be at regular incursions by then Burmese Empire, who just wanted to loot.

In order to survive the brutal clashes, the then king asks help from whom? The British. This is 1762 btw. The British gained their first stronghold in India in 1757 Plassey war.

A map from that era. notice Bengal, which will later be won by EIC. Locate the NE of India.

And then comes the masters of Divide and Rule.
The British in order for their ease to maintain the balance in Manipur, allow Kuki incursions to happen from Myanmar. These Kukis will be later converted to Christianity via missionaries. We will see that too.

Before that, we also need to speak of the Kuki rebellion, which was basically an act of the kukis to steal more land from the native meitei population. The British bureaucracy was feeble and therefore the strategic use of force. realpolitik game.

Now how do you control a population? Divide and conquer them. But you aren't practitioners of animism or headhunting. What do you do?
Support massive proselytization.
Enters joshua project, judeo-christian missionaries to create long term subversion.

@offcircuit_sec_ Guess what happened?
They faced resistance from the hindus in the valley so they spearheaded their evangelical attempts in the hills where the kuki and the naga tribes lived.

One must note I am speaking of entire populations here. There are meitei converts too. but unimportant

@offcircuit_sec_ Even after independence, they were given free hand, and the proselytization continued under the garb of "secularism", which carries on even to this day.

And that leaves you with a religious map like this. Interesting isn't? How geography writes destiny !

@offcircuit_sec_ And isn't this interesting. Alongside being christians, there is also another group which think themselves to be a lost tribe of Israel. lol.
And guess what? What do they support? They support breaking India, and demanding their state, "Kukiland".

But who started it?
Enters a schizo Mizoram tribal leader. "He saw dreams"
Yup those are his justifications.
But then the question become who funded the entire thing? A random person cannot make a movement without "funds" isn't ?

Enters Israel. Zionist organizations funded movement and created a thing that no one cared about to getting some 10000 people rallying behind in the present day and age.

@Delta_SquadAnex @Intel_Jackal But does Israel treat it the same way?

NO way!!!!

In Israel using material good or money to induce conversions is banned and can get your prison, even harsher sentences behind the scenes, given the rabbinic judaism is so strong. But its "sab changa si" in countries like India.
