Some people have tried to argue that Megyn Kelly wasn’t arguing for literal demons having an influence in politics.

I don’t know how she could be clearer. This is the direct quote:

“In other words, you’re playing with fire messing with this stuff. There actually are demons in this world. Calling up the spirit world, in particular the devil’s spirit world, can actually have real world consequences. It’s not something to mess with. Many Christians believe this. This is dangerous. It’s not a game. It’s literally evil.”

This was all said after telling the audience that the curse was predicted to work in 2-3 weeks, while Charlie Kirk died within 18 days. Also, she played a clip from a priest saying The Exorcist was based on a true story, then went on to say “In other words.”

When she says “Many Christians believe this,” you might be able to argue that she was just summarizing the view many Christians hold. But there’s no real indication of that. This is the type of interpretation you would make if you were hired as a lawyer to defend her, not what any reasonable person would conclude based on what she was saying.
