What is Persona 5: The Phantom X?
Persona 5 the Phantom X(Hereby called P5X) is a free-to-play turn based JRPG mobile game developed by Blackwings Studio(A subdivision of Perfect World Game) with Sega and Atlus monitoring the IP, released in China on April 12th, 2024, followed by the Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and South Korea releases of the game being on April 18th, 2024 with the EN/JP release being planned for June 26th of this year.
The overall idea of the game was proposed in 2019, with Perfect World Games proposing the idea of a mobile game based on the Persona 5 IP to Sega and Atlus, which they promptly approved.
The game went through three close betas before its debut in China.

What is P5X all about?
The world of P5X is an alternate universe to the mainline Persona 5 that takes place within the same timeline, but due to an event, it has become a different world. The theme of P5X is βDesire.β You play as the protagonist (Hereby called Wonder). In the world of P5X, desires are being stolen, causing everyone, including Wonder, to lack any form of motivation to do anything.
Due to an unexpected incident, he awakens to his Persona JΓ‘noΕ‘Γk, after which, alongside Lufel(the obligatory modern Persona mascot), the true goal of the game is presented: Steal back the stolen desires.
The basic premise of each game chapter is that Wonder and the rest of the main cast will confront problematic individuals called Phantoms/Menaces, who cause people to lose their desires. Each mission goal is to secure the route to their treasure and steal it, which is a manifestation of their corrupted desires, causing them to change their actions as a result.

Is P5X story good?
P5X's story is very good as it is directed by Yusuke Nitta, who helped with P5R/P5S story. Story enthusiasts can be assured that the quality of P5X's story and its storytelling is very good.
Do I need to play P5/P5R before playing P5X?
P5X is its own separate thing, allowing people who haven't touched the Persona games to play it without much worry for spoilers.

What is the deal with Phantom Idols?
Phantom Idols are cognitive beings that are created by Merope(This game Velvet Room attendant) based on characters that Wonder had met in the real world. They are not real Persona users and are a way of the game introducing new thieves without them overlapping with the main story.

Is P5X a main game or a side game
I would say P5X is a side game, as early on you will have a lot of stuff and content to do, but as soon as you reach endgame, most of said content is just gone or collecting dust. But nothing is wrong with playing it as a main game, though.
How long is a patch cycle?
The average patch cycle for the game is 3 weeks. Not sure if it will go into 3-week patches or two-week patches once EN drops, so take it with a grain of salt.

What is P5X gameplay like?
P5X gameplay is split into two parts: City Life/Metaverse
City Life:
1. Social stats have 20 ranks instead of 10.
2. Confidants/Synergy have 20 ranks instead of 10. There are no Arcana assigned to them.
3. Instead of a calendar system, you get Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. You are also given action points, which you can spend on doing stuff such as part-time jobs, movies, reading, hanging out with confidants, and more. 5 action points are given daily at reset and can be replenished using energy drinks.
2. Mini games and side quests are available without spending action points.
Metaverse:
1. Mementos is no longer randomly generated and has an exploration percentage for exploring each floor of Mementos.
2. Palaces can be explored even after it's βcollapseβ with an exploration percentage for exploring the palace.

How easy is the daily/weekly in P5X?
It takes 5-7 minutes, depending on what you need for that day. As for weeklies, it will be slightly longer due to weekly bosses' rewards respawning. Most of the daily tasks provided by the game are simple to do, though some could find it a bit repetitive.

How is the combat in P5X?
In P5X, you can make a 4-man team featuring characters with up to 6 different roles and a slot dedicated to Navigators.
The combat of P5X remains the same as that of Persona 5, with One More and All Out Attack still being in the game alongside some minor changes to make it suitable for mobile players. One new addition to the game is the introduction of Highlight. Highlight is like a character's ultimate or special attack that can be activated once you get 100% highlight energy. After using it, there is a 3-turn cooldown(Note: there is a character that can grant highlight via skill, bypassing the 3-turn cooldown). In addition, certain enemies have a knockdown shield that requires the player to deal weakness damage or to land a critical hit to remove it.
Unlike in the mainland games, P5X incentives using appropriate teams to defeat content, so you can't cheese every content in the game with 3 dpses and expect to win 90% of the time.

Do I need to pull any characters to experience their story?
No, you don't need to, as their content will be available as soon as the character drops. You only pull for the sake of faves or adding them to your party.
Can I experience everything in the game without interacting with the gacha system?
Yes, you can experience almost everything the game has to offer without the system however, you could find yourself struggling with certain content in the game due to a lack more characters in your roster.
How many gems are required to guarantee a character/weapon of my choice?
You would need 12,000 gems or 80 limited pulls to guarantee a character on the Fated Bond banner. In the event you don't get the rate up unit as your 5* the first time, you would need 24000 gems to guarantee them. The Exclusive Bond banner will require 110 pulls or 15,000 gems to guarantee one. For the weapon supply, you would only need 7,000 gems for 1 5* weapon. In the event you don't get the rate-up weapon as your 5* first time, you would need 14,000 gems.

What does the word "Awareness" or "Reform" mean?
Awareness is the term used to describe an upgrade to a character to help improve their effectiveness or add new abilities within the existing kit. Awareness 0 is the core mechanic that ties into the character kit. Each character has a total of 6 Awarenesses, with the 2nd/3rd and the 4th/5th Awarenesses always being a level increase or Highlight improvement to their overall skills. Players can unlock an awareness of a certain character by pulling multiple copies of them.
Reform is used to describe an upgrade to a weapon that can increase the weapon's stats and effects. For every 1 weapon of the same name and rarity consumed, you can consume a weapon of a different name and same rarity, provided it ainβt reformed.

How important are Awareness/dupes?
In most cases, all 5* are completed at Awareness 0 without the need for dupes; some 5* potential can be unlocked at higher Awareness, such as A1/A2, but it is not a must.

Should I do a 10x or do a 1x?
It's recommended to do a 10x instead of a 1x since it's more effective unless you are close to pity.
Is rerolling important?
It's not a must, but depending on when you start and what units are available to you at that time, rerolling can be worth it.
Is the game P2W?
No, not really. P5X is considered to be relatively good as a F2P gacha game, and as long as you can manage your resources effectively, you can get the unit you want without any problem. Plus, prices in this game are pretty cheap for those who want to spend a bit.

How is the grinding in P5X?
Relatively simple, all characters and weapons in this game use the same materials for ascension, making it less of a hassle to level them up. Gear grinding is a carbon copy of Hoyoverse games grinding, with RNG and QoL stuff being presented there. The only downside to gears in this game is the introduction of universal cards, which is the main source of getting them is mainly obtained from guild battles or events, even then, it mostly RNG outside of the rare selectors you get.

Is tierlist a must in this game?
No, you can get pretty far without one, so don't worry too much about meta. But if you're curious about how the 1.0 units were ranked in CN, check here. (Do note this tierlist isn't meta, it is just there to give you a quick glimpse.)
