1. Go to chatacademia.com and click on "Get started."

You'll need to buy a subscription to use the app.

2. AI Chat

Once you've logged in, click on "AI Chat" and then "Create chat" in top right.

In "Model," select the AI model you want to use, and in "Tools," select the databases.

Type in a question and it will give you an answer with reference to papers in selected databases.

6. Click on the question you like. It will give you several options.

Select "Refine" and add any additional details. Hit Enter/Return and it will give you a refined list of research questions.

7. Once again go through the research questions and select one you find most interesting.

Click on it and select "Check novelty." Enable relevant databases and hit Enter/Return.

It will run your question through selected databases to see if your question is novel or not.

Click on "Paper Search" and then "Search papers."

Type in your question and select relevant databases. You can run a search through multiple databases at once.

Enable AI and click on "Search papers."

It will show you relevant papers.

Click on "File Storage" and then "Upload files." Chat Academia gives you 50GB storage.

Click on "Choose files" and select the papers you want to upload. Then click on "Upload files."

Go to zotero[.]org and log in to your Zotero account. Click on your user name and select "Settings."

Click on "Create new private key." Choose a name for your key and click on "Save Key."

This will generate your Zotero API key. Copy the key.

Add your Zotero API key and the numeric user ID.

Click on "Save" and your Zotero integration is complete.

In the "Tools" menu, uncheck all databases and select "Zotero Search."
