Fat-soluble vitamins can help with endotoxin. 🧵

Endotoxin causes:
Low Testosterone
Erectile Dysfunction
Obesity
Type 2 Diabetes
Depression and Anxiety
Lack of Empathy
Alzheimer's and Parkinson's
Cardiovascular Disease

Vitamin D deficiency causes “leaky gut”.

The symptoms of leaky gut syndrome are caused by endotoxin-induced inflammation and energy down-regulation.

Endotoxin wreaks havoc by triggering inflammation.

TLR4, the endotoxin receptor, initiates the cascade of inflammatory proteins.

Vitamin D (2,000 iu/day) reduces TLR4 expression and downstream inflammation.

Endotoxin lives in the gut, but when a lot gets into the rest of the body, it activates TLR4, and then the trouble starts.

Keeping the gut sealed and keeping endotoxin out of general circulation is key.

Children with lower levels of vitamin A have leaky guts.

Vitamin A helps seal the gut.

Vitamin A supplementation in vitamin A-deficient children improves gut barrier integrity.

Inflammation and energy suppression from endotoxin causes “sickness behaviour”: lethargy, anorexia, reduced social interaction, altered sleep, pain, and cognitive dysfunction.

Vitamin E reduces sickness behaviors and endotoxin-inflammation.

Vitamin E even decreases the immune system activation of alveolar cells by endotoxin, which is one reason it can help with asthma.

Endotoxin increases cortisol, which is a cause of T2D, obesity, low testosterone, and depression.

Vitamin E prevents the endotoxin-induced rise in corticosterone, the rat equivalent of cortisol. It also decreases cortisol in endotoxin-dosed pigs.

IL-6 is an inflammatory protein increased by endotoxin.

It plays a role in arthritis, IBD, sepsis, cancer, atherosclerosis, heart failure, diabetes, obesity, MS, Alzheimer’s, and severe coof. Vitamin K2 MK-4 reduces endotoxin-induced elevations in IL-6.

Rats given vitamin K1 are protected against the endotoxin-induced drop in testosterone. K1 is a precursor to K2.

K1 supplementation/sufficiency almost doubled K2 levels in the rats. Vitamin K2 reduces brain inflammation triggered by endotoxin.

Intestinal alkaline phosphatase (I-ALP) is a gut enzyme with many protective effects, including the dephosphorylation of endotoxin.

Dephosphorylation makes endotoxin less inflammatory because it reduces TLR4 activation. Vitamin K2 increases I-ALP.

Food sources:

6 oz beef liver a week provides a lot of vitamin A.

Sunlight can provide enough vitamin D in the summer.

Hard cheeses are good sources of K2.

Green leafy veg provides K1 (see parsley!).

Unsaturated fats (seed/vig/fish oil) increase the need for vitamin E.

What do I do with all this information?

D3 in olive oil, 4k iu for the 6-month winter.
Sunbathing the rest of the year.
K2 - 8mg/day.
Vitamin E 200-800 ui/day.
Vitamin A 1700 ug/day.

Your needs are not necessarily the same as mine...

I currently use:
Epigenetics vitamin A (retinyl palmitate).
Nature's Answer Vitamin D3 in olive oil.
Idealabs Kuinone K2.
Now Foods E-200.
