The Wahhabis are now admitting one of the most scandalous facts about their beliefs.
They acknowledge that ancient Ahl al-Hadith books on aqida and tawhid are completely different from the books that they teach, which are based on the ideas of Ibn Abd al-Wahhab (e.g., Kitab al-Tawhid, Kashf al-Shubuhat).
Thus, unlike the books of Ibn Abd al-Wahhab, these ancient books do not hold that understanding tawhid and aqida involves making a long list of types of shirk, and then takfiring all Muslims and calling them worse than the pre-Islamic Quraysh.
In other words, these ancient books do not hold that understanding tawhid and aqida involves teaching people about the shirk-related dangers of tawassul or istighatha or calling on jinn or calling on angels, or slaughtering animals for other than Allah, or prostrating to other than Allah, or vowing to other than Allah, or tabarruk, or amulets, and the like.
These Wahhabis seeks to explain the fact at issue by claiming that ancient books of the Ahl al-Hadith do not focus on these practices because they did not exist at the time. But this is a complete lie.
We know that many of these practices were widespread at the time, and some are even explicitly endorsed or permitted by Imam Ahmad and other members of the Ahl al-Hadith. Thus, Imam Ahmad did permit tawassul, and certain requests from angels and jinn, and tabarruk, and amulets.
Wahhabis hide this fact because according to Ibn Abd al-Wahhab's principles, people like Imam Ahmad had no understanding of aqida and tawhid, and were even kafir mushriks.
Wahhabis are not real Ahl al-Hadith, or Hanbalis, or even Ahl al-Sunna. They are a recent khariji sect that has been at war with Ahl al-Sunna since the eighteenth century.
