Reducing excess histamine can improve migraines, heart health, breathing, and skin conditions.

One way to solve histamine issues is to maximize histamine detox.

The most significant histamine reducers are the enzymes DAO and HNMT.

DAO is the most important of the two, as histamine issues often center around gut production, where DAO destroys histamine.

Copper, vitamin B6 (as P5P), and vitamin C are the main cofactors for the production of DAO. Sometimes, correcting a bottleneck in just one of these is helpful.

Getting more vitamin C from acerola powder was significant for me. 1.5g of acerola powder contains 500 mg of vitamin C, and unlike ascorbic acid, it does not cause me irritation (increasing histamine).

I saw improvements in sleep and skin irritation, both histamine-related.

Beef liver is a great source of copper. A 6-ounce serving of beef liver provides 3x of your weekly copper needs, according to the RDA.

Oysters, dark chocolate, mushrooms, and potatoes can all help increase copper intake. Copper glycinate is a supplemental option.

Wearing copper bracelets is likely to absorb a significant amount of copper.

Liver, meats, and potatoes can increase vitamin B6 intake.

Supplementing the P5P form might be better than the pyridoxine form. [Either can cause reversible neuropathy, especially at high doses.]
5-10 mg P5P works well for me, in general.

DAO supplements can be very useful for people with high histamine.

Studies have shown that they can reduce migraine and cardiovascular, respiratory, and skin problems caused by histamine.

Common causes of elevated histamine include high estrogen, endotoxin, hypothyroidism, high parathyroid hormone, endorphins, opiates, opioids, polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 and n-6), calcium deficiency, hypoglycemia, elevated free fatty acids, and lipid peroxidation.
