NUMBERS: Drawing the Curtain between the Divine Temple of Intellect and the Court of Idolatry

Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. Isaiah 28β€’17

Knowing what the numbers in the Bible mean is not numerology. If they weren't important God wouldn't have put them in there. I don't practice numerology, and outside of the Isopsephic calculations required to come to 888 I see little value in it. It should be noted though that both Hebrew and Greek assign numerical values to the letters of their alphabets as a crucial part of their language and was integral to how they communicated, therefore, in order to fully understand the scriptures one must also know what these values represent, and what they meant to the people who recorded them under the supervision and direction of God.

NUMEROLOGY

Numerology is the belief in the divine or mystical relationship between numbers and coinciding events. It's like saying numbers have a secret life where they party with destiny and fate. This gnosis is then used for personal insights or predicting future events. Like horoscope's autistic cousin who loves math instead of stars.

Scriptural Number Meaning

Is specifically about understanding the significance of numbers as they appear in the Bible. Here, numbers aren't just numbers they're loaded with truth.

Knowledge of the meaning of numbers is used to interpret scripture and understand spiritual truths. For example, the number 8 often represents regeneration or the beginning and end. Jewish babies were circumcised on the 8th day.

Numbers are deeply rooted in scripture. The meaning is often derived from how numbers are used in stories, prophecies, or commandments. Like, 40 days and nights isn't just a long rainy spell, it symbolizes testing and trial.

Both systems believe numbers carry more than just numerical value; they carry meaning. But while numerology might say your house number influences your luck, scriptural interpretation would be more about what the number signifies in a divine narrative.

In essence, while numerology looks at numbers as universal symbols with personal implications, understanding numbers in scripture looks at them as divine symbols within a spiritual context.

And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. Revelation 11:1-2
