There has been a systematic persecution and removal of Beauty in the West in recent years. Why? Because real Beauty has the power to build up or destroy a society. The transcendental quality of beauty makes it a powerful linchpin to pull to hasten our societal downfall.
Beauty is a uniquely powerful force of spiritual conversion; it is one of the three transcendentals along with Truth and Goodness. Real beauty is True and Good, and therefore points to God who is the ultimate creative force and author of all beauty.
The Catholic Catechism says: “…from the greatness and beauty of created things comes a corresponding perception of their Creator, for the author of beauty created them.”
A quick story of the converting power of beauty: One day, French Poet and atheist Paul Claudel walked into Notre Dame, and hearing the choir sing Vespers, “in an instant, my heart was touched, and I believed.”
Understanding the potent religious power of Beauty makes it easy then to see why the ‘powers that be’ wish to erase it from our society in all areas––TV/film, music, fashion, advertisements, politics, literature, architecture, and civic design.
Replacing beauty with ugliness, deception, and corruption is engineered to foster hopelessness, to shape our and perception of the world. When the we have hope and faith in God, we are harder to control. But, when disorder and degeneracy reign, everything easily falls from there.
The rebuilding of our cities, country, and souls lie in the revival of beauty, and turning our eyes and hearts to God. From there, goodness and truth will naturally be restored.
