A good modern work that tries to study this text along with other early Shī'ī exegetical works is the study of early Qur'anic attitudes by Amir al-Moezzi called The Silent Quran and the Speaking Quran.

The most famous book in the modern times that came out of traditional scholarship is Fasl al-Khattab Fi Tahrīf Kitāb Rab al-Arbāb by Mirza Nuri Tabrisi (d.1902)

This book takes much from Sayyari and attempts to prove that the early Shī'īs affirmed Taḥrīf of the Quran.

All three personalities - Sayyari, Tabrisi, and Moezzi come to the same conclusion which might be substantiated by modern critical Qur'anic studies as well. When did Qur'an become a stable text? The question remains open.
