Control & Exit

Esc - stop Claude mid-response
Esc Esc - clear draft, or open rewind
Ctrl+C - interrupt, twice to exit
Ctrl+D - exit Claude Code
Ctrl+L - redraw the screen
Ctrl+T - toggle the task list
Ctrl+O - toggle verbose transcript
Ctrl+X Ctrl+K - stop all subagents
Ctrl+B - background the task

Edit Your Prompt

Ctrl+A / Ctrl+E - start or end of line
Option + arrows - jump word by word
Ctrl+W - delete the last word
Ctrl+K - delete to end of line
Ctrl+U - delete to start of line
Ctrl+Y - paste back deleted text
Ctrl+G - open prompt in an editor

History & Recall

Up / Down - step through history
Ctrl+P / Ctrl+N - previous or next
Ctrl+R - reverse-search history
Ctrl+S - cycle the search scope

Multiline Input

Backslash then Enter - new line
Ctrl+J - new line, no backslash
Shift+Enter - new line, most terminals
Option+Enter - new line on Mac

Image & Clipboard

Ctrl+V - paste an image
Alt+V - paste an image on Windows
Cmd+V - paste an image in iTerm2

Modes, Models & Thinking

Shift+Tab - cycle your modes
Alt+M - cycle modes too
Option+P - switch model
Option+T - toggle thinking
Option+O - toggle Fast Mode

Magic Prefixes

/ - commands, skills, MCP
@ - mention a file
! - run a shell command
# - save a note to memory
Tab - accept the autocomplete

Vim Mode (turn on in /config)

Esc - switch to NORMAL mode
i / a / o - insert text
h j k l - move around
w / b / e - jump by word
dd / cw / yy - delete, change, yank
u / . - undo, repeat

Fullscreen Mode

/tui fullscreen - turn the mouse on
{ / } - jump between prompts
Space / b - scroll a page
Home / End - top or bottom
[ - send to scrollback
