"In June 2025, 19 year old Clélia Verdier from Lyon reportedly woke from a three week induced coma believing she had lived an entirely different life for seven years. During the coma, she experienced vivid and realistic dreams in which she fell in love, got married, and became the mother of triplets. In this imagined life, she also went through the emotional trauma of losing one of her children shortly after birth.
When she regained consciousness, she was devastated to discover that the family and children she remembered were not real. The emotional impact was so intense that she needed therapy to cope with the grief and confusion caused by memories that felt completely genuine to her.
Experts have linked experiences like this to rare cases of altered consciousness and vivid REM related dreaming, where the brain can create the sensation of long periods of time passing within a much shorter real world period."
