The real reason relationships end is because no one wants to parent their partner.

That's how respect and attraction is lost.

Here's what you expect from a partner:

You've spent a long time taking care of everyone else. You want a partner who makes your life easier, not more difficult. Someone who finally steps up to take care of you, too.

You don't want to repeat things over and over again. You want a mature partner who hears you and lets you know they heard you through making changes in their behavior.

You don't want to make all the decisions. Giving your brain space to relax is the greatest act of love. You want space to imagine, dream, and focus on what interests you instead of carrying the mental and emotional load of your household alone.

You don't want to always have to take initiative. You want someone to come to you with a plan, a surprise, or just a simple: "I ran you a bath, I'm going to clean the kitchen." Doing things without being asked is the most attractive trait.

You don't want to be a mother. You've had to raise yourself, and you don't want to tell someone to pick up after themselves, to stop drinking so much, or to take care of things they should be responsible for.

You don't want to have relationship anxiety. You want words to match actions. You want reassurance that they're not going anywhere. You want sweet texts, acts of consideration, and affection.

You don't want to feel like a burden. You don't want to pressure them to open up or have difficult conversations. You want someone who listens even when it's hard. Who never threatens to leave in anger.

You don't want low effort partnership. You want someone who wants to learn how to love you. You want to feel their happiness and genuine interest when you're talking about things you love.
