3 Sprint Myths That Won’t Die

1️⃣ “You run on your toes.”
You don’t. Sprinters strike through the ball of the foot with a dorsiflexed, pre activated ankle that’s ready to handle force. The heel drops slightly to load the Achilles for elastic recoil… it’s a reflexive,

spring like action, not a toe bounce.

2️⃣ “Tall and Land directly under your center of mass!”
If you did, you’d go nowhere. The foot needs to hit slightly in front so you can push back and down. Over correct this cue and you’ll just bounce vertically instead of projecting

forward.

3️⃣ “Take longer strides.”
You don’t cue stride length, you earn it. Stride length comes from how much vertical impulse you create and how efficiently you apply horizontal force. Reaching or over striding only adds braking and kills momentum.
