Too many coaches still miss this.

In this clip, Cooper Kupp says two simple but critical things
1. To get fast, you have to sprint fast.
2. Strength and conditioning exist to support skill, but skill matters most!

That understanding is still lost on most. When it comes to
2
preparing sportsmen, the sport comes first. There’s nothing more important than that. Everything else should feed into it.

Yes, physical qualities like strength, speed, and power matter. But they only matter if they help you express skill better, tolerate more of it,
3
or create room for technical change.

And if you want to get actually fast, not just faster than your untrained self, you need to sprint. It’s a skill. And like any skill, you improve it by doing it.

So listen to his words, and think about how your program is built.

Is it actually helping you perform better in your sport, or just checking boxes?

My new speed development eBook and training program is coming soon. Until then, I have beginner, advanced, and youth programs available at the link in my bio,
5
used by thousands of athletes around the world. I also offer custom remote programming for high school, college, and pro athletes.
