Taehyung finds himself deflating.

Jungkook definitely loves his mate much more than the admiration he has for Kim Taehyung, he wants to scoff, of course he does. He mated that mundane, normal omega.

“No”, he says when Seokjin repeats the question, “I did not feel

anything”, he shakes his head, letting a breath out, “its just. If he is a pureblood, how is that nobody is aware of him? How can he hide like this? And if he was also wearing scent blockers and suppressors like me to hide, how would we find him?”

Jin malfunctions as he opens

his mouth and closes it before he is pressing his hands against his forehead, "I don't- that would be a fucking disaster”, he says, Taehyung's eyes widen slightly at Seokjin cursing, “if he is hiding like you then we have no way to find him, we have to get your appa involved,

get the whole pack involved and find him because without him- you can't break the mating bond or you can't stay mateless.”

Taehyung gulps, “we- we have time. We don't have to, not yet.”

Seokjin shuts his eyes, “I went through more than half of the alphas Namjoon gave me the

list but none of them are it. All of them had their scents too so they just weren't it. It has been a week already, we only have three more weeks left since the start of your mating ceremony, I don't know what else to do.”

Taehyung feels the dread trickling into his stomach bit

by bit. He gulps.

The elder omega shakes his head, “I will have to fasten my pace. We have to find the alpha or look for a scentless one too.”

Taehyung just nods. His head is full of thoughts as he freshens up that night, while oiling his skin-

So it couldn't be Jungkook, but

why did his touch on Taehyung feel like that? Why was it so intense?

Was it just static electricity with how cold the air was?

Taehyung lets a breath out, his fingers going numb from how hard he was rubbing, he needs to find out if it was just static or something more or not

He doesn't know what he wants but he needs to see.

The opportunity presents himself just a few days later when Jungkook and he planned to meet at the library in the evening, just before the sunset for a class project.

By the time he gets there, he finds the alpha sleeping

on his arm, half of his face squished against the muscled arm while sprinkles of the dusk sunlight falls on his face.

Taehyung huffs and goes to sit beside the alpha, where he can see the alpha has reserved it for him with his bad.

He smiles to himself before he is turning to look at Jungkook

, his thoughts pausing- he could touch him now. His eyes go to the alpha's other tattooed arm that is sitting on the table right in front o the omega. His eyes reads over each one of the intricate designs. He could trace one of them.

And the alpha wouldn't know.

The thought itself makes his whole body heat up as he shakes his head, how could he even think that?! Has his morals completely left him?

But he needed to check too...

Maybe he could touch him in the pretense of waking him up? He had to, right? They had a project to do.

Taehyung lets a breath out before he raises his arms, biting down hardly on his lips when he sees his fingers shaking as he inches it towards the alpha's tattooed arm painstakingly slowly, his breath held.

As soon as his skin makes contact with the alpha's skin, he feels the

telltale intense burn from before knock his breath out as immediately his chest tightens and panic seizes him.

He cannot breath, he stares at the alpha but he cannot breath.

He doesn't dare take his hands away from the alphas arms even as his eyes tears up.

He feels it, he

feels it again and it is making him want to cry, he doesn't know why. He puts his other hand over his mouth to not let a sound out.

It takes seconds, maybe minutes until the burn all over his skin is sizzling as the goosebumps go down.

He braves to trace a single line of the

tigerlily flower tattoo and closes his eyes when he feels the shiver of his goosebumps going up again.

Just what is this.

The alpha is still sleeping. Taehyung braves to map the whole tigerlily tattoo out, the goosebumps don't go down.

He stills when Jungkook makes a sudden

movement and is blinking his eyes open, “Taehyung?” he says.

Taehyung finds his heartbeat go into shambles, “y-y-yes?”

“You are late”, the alpha yawns, “I was waiting so long, I was -”

“Jungkook, who is your mate?” Taehyung asks, his voice hurried as he holds the edge of the

Taehyung stares at him, “please why are you being so impossible-”

“I will take of my blockers and suppressors if you tell me who your mate is”, Taehyung says without thinking.

Making Jungkook's eyes widen in shock as his mouth plops open.

“No”,Jungkook says, even though a part of his chest jumped out to his throat, “no”, he says more clearly, “I can't - I am not going to let you give up your rules- or your principles up just to tell you who my mate is-”

“But-”

“Why is knowing my mate even this important to you?

That you would forget everything you and your mate have agreed on to break? I just- can you please just take my answer no like I did yours? I- I can't tell you”, the alpha says,

Because I don't even know myself, what would I tell you? That I mated someone and I don't even

remember them so you realize my fuckboy status and stop talking to me?

Taehyung presses his lips together, his finger nails dig into the wood painfully. He wants to blurt out everything, why his scent is hidden, why he is here- because that feeling he got truly means Jungkook

is his mate, if he was it wouldn't matter would it?

He was doing it all to find him after all.

But if Jungkook actually had a mate and the alpha wasn't lying or something, then Taehyung wouldn't be it right? Then he would be in big trouble for telling Jungkook anything about

himself, especially if his appa or any of his family found out.

He gulps and closes his eyes.

Jungkook will not tell him it seems, not until he himself spills.

But he cannot give up, not when he felt like that. He needs to find out.

“Fine then, don't tell me”, he grits out,

“but remember one thing when I do find out when that mate of yours is, you have to fall on your knees to ask for my forgiveness for being such a menace now.”

Jungkook scoffs, “I am just giving you a taste of your own medicine, when was I a menace and why would I even ask for

forgiveness from you? I didn't tell you about my mate so what?” Jungkook pffs.

Taehyung fumes but he doesn't say anything anymore as he turns towards his notes, if Jungkook turns out to be his mate, he is going to teach him the worst lesson.

But now, he needs to figure out how

to know.

He pauses all of a sudden, his mind enraged.

That hyung of Jungkook's- Yoongi hyung was it? Surely, he would know who Jungkook's mate is right?

Or lack thereof?

He narrows his eyes, they went somewhere together that night too,

if anyone has to know, it would be him.

Taehyung just has to figure out a way to talk to him. He gets up, packing his bag up. He can't think of a project now.

Jungkook's eyes widen, “hey where are you going-”

“Away from you dumb alpha”, Taehyung says.

“I am the dumb one now? How even- Hey! We have a project to finish-”, Jungkook shouts but Taehyung doesn't listen as he gets out hurriedly, he needs to ask someone for help to get to Yoongi. He doesn't think he can waste even a bit of time.
