๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ฑ๐ง IMPRTANT HISTORY RECAP ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐ฑ๐ง
Please allow me to give a different perspective and a historical recap to counter those who rewrite history.
Lebanon "SHOULD" be strategically important to the West, but it is not for several reasons:
1) Lebanon does not have oil, and it is a small country.
2) Arabs had oil, and used it as a weapon in the early 1970s during the "Arab Oil Embargo" to strong-arm the West. The price of gasoline immediately skyrocketed in the west. Inflation and a recession followed, with skyrocketing unemployment.
3) Arabs sided with the Palestinians and their Muslim allies in Lebanon. EVERYONE was against the Lebanese Christians. EVERYONE! [Syria initially sided with the Christians but as a pretext to enter the war and enter Lebanon. See #5 below].
4) The West did not want to lose lucrative business contracts and oil supplies from the Arab World, sacrificed Lebanon to placate the Arabs.
5) Everyone backed Syria as "the peacekeeper" to come and restore order in Lebanon. Syria had their own goals in Lebanon and had always wanted to annex Lebanon. They had openly stated that prior the war. The result: the Syrians were butchers in Lebanon. They pounded Christian areas with artillery, including Beirut's Ashrafieh district where our apartment was located. Much worse than Israel's shelling of the Dahiye this year. No warnings, snipers, constant shelling, sieges, food shortages. It was absolute hell on earth.
6) The Lebanese Christians fought valiantly, and Israel supported them. Many nations were against the Lebanese Christians/Israel.
7) The West, including the USA, betrayed the Lebanese Christians and tied Israel's hands [just as they are doing now]. There was a deal to ship all the Christians to the West and put them in Refugee camps on the USA/Canada border and in other places. The ships were even in the Port of Beirut. The Lebanese Christians refused.
In conclusion: Lebanon is too small, and the Lebanese have to fight against huge odds for their Lebanon.
So back to the top of this post: Even though the West does not consider Lebanon to be strategically important, Israel considers Lebanon very strategically important for its safety. The Lebanese Christians and Israel have common enemies. That is why I (and many Lebanese) prefer Israel over Arabs ANYDAY ANYTIME ANYWHERE ๐ฑ๐ง๐๏ธ๐ฎ๐ฑ
I am one of the most positive people in the world, but with regards to the Middle East Conflict, here is the honest-to-God solid truth: HAMAS, All Palestinian fighters, Hezbollah, the Iranian Regime, The old and the new Syrian Regimes, Qatar, Turkey, The Muslim Brotherhood, Al-Qaeda, The Taliban, ISIS, Students for Justice in Palestine, George and Alex Soros, The US Congress's "SQUAD", Obama, the left in Europe and the US, and all similarly-situated people are all Cancers in the World.
One request to all my connections: Please repost this history lesson. The consequences of Lebanon falling back into terrorist hands will be horribly disastrous for both Israel & the Lebanese Christians.
Thank you
