B2)And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
B17)And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
The beast rose from the sea: The sea represents the great, restless mass of human kind. Primordial Adam. James represents an undecided man as a wave driven by the wind (James 1:6). The individuals, like larger and smaller waves, make up this great ocean-like mass of men, swayed by impulse or passion. Out of the sea rises a wild beast - the natural man.
The dragon (Satan) gave him his seat. (Possibly through the knowledge of good and evil) A couple of weeks ago I detailed how 'seat' refers to seat of consciousness and how it is the rightful throne of God in Christ. So if the beast is not Satan directly then it must be what he has sown.
If the number of the beast refers to primordial Adam 666, the number of a man, and we are all his descendants... this why we have to be born again into Christ --THE NEW ADAM.
Only humans buy or sell. Buying and selling only happens in the world, it doesn't happen in heaven. In order to be in the world one has to be born the natural way, into Adam, no one save John the Baptist is born into Christ.
I believe the mention of these animals is a reference to Romans 1 and the proclivity for the natural man to worship creations rather than the creator:
They glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted BEASTS, and creeping things.
Verses 3/14 have me stumped rn. I'm drawing a blank and I can't make it follow this course, although I can with others in the chapter. I will try to do one daily. Pray for me please.

interestingly one of the things the early church stopped doing was buying and selling amongst each other, they treated all like communal possessions, something the natural man would never do.
