We know that Republicans have recently been nominating bad candidates and losing elections. I don't think most understand how bad things have gotten at the state party level, especially in swing states.

Consider the kind of people the GOP now attracts.

In Michigan, an important swing state, Republicans chose single mother Kristina Karamo to head the party last year.

She was just voted out, but claims that it was done improperly, so has refused to resign. Last week, the Michigan GOP had an event where both Karamo and the other supposed leader showed up, like the two popes, but neither was recognized as the head of the party.

Kamaro previously ran for Secretary of State in Michigan in 2022. She lost by 14 points and refused to concede. Now she refuses to leave the RNC!

In Arizona, yet another swing state, the last chair resigned after being caught on tape trying to bribe Kari Lake not to run for office again.

Nevada is having a GOP state primary today. But Trump isn't on the ballot. Why? Trump encouraged the state party to ignore the official state primary and have their own caucus. Haley isn't participating in that one, which is Thursday.

So there are two GOP elections, one with Trump running unopposed and the other with Haley running unopposed.

The state party changed the rules in order to help Trump. The people running the Nevada GOP are by the way currently being charged with trying to overturn the 2020 election in his favor.

In Florida, Christian Ziegler was voted out as head of the GOP last month after it was revealed he was being criminally investigated for sexual assault.

The woman involved told police that she first had a threesome with Ziegler and his wife, but then she refused to have sex with him alone. He then went to her apartment, sexually assaulted her, and videotaped it.

People think of Trump in terms of his policies or direct influence. But there are indirect effects too, in that he seems to motivate dysfunctional weirds to become involved in the GOP. Overwhelmingly, those with legal problems or psychological instability are MAGA types.
