a guide for armys about the whole bangtan universe and how to watch and read the contents to understand the storylines and ideas behind them: a thread

disclaimer: this thread only shows the way I personally think it would be best to go through the contents to understand everything better. Of course everyone can have different approaches. Also it can have some of my own interpretations of events

the bu is a very intricate place that has been introduced especially during the so called hyyh era which was an abbreviation for "the most beautiful moment in life" or "hwa yang yeon hwa" it is made of three albums describing the life of youth and their transition to adulthood

the bu storylines started earlier though you could see references from early on that would later be connected with the notes. The hyyh album manifested the beginning of the characters and their stories and continued through wings era and love yourself as well as map of the soul

there are a lot of components/ material to understand and watch the bu: heres a brief overview

- mvs
- short films
- highlight reels
- the notes as a book
- the notes from the albums
- literature from various authors
- the save me webtoon

in the bangtan universe which truly started with the I need u mv every member had a story representing a certain aspect of how an individual could be living. through the friendship of the members they started finding comfort in each other to forget the hardships of their lives

although all the members have deep tied friendships with e/o there are certain pairings that come out of the group that will later be important

- hoseok & jimin
- yoongi & jungkook
- namjoon & taehyung

seokjin is the only person remaining alone but connected with them all

so the first thing I would recommend to watch is the I need u mv. Although in the timeline in my opinion the events in run happen BEFORE I need u i still think its smarter to start with i need u to get a grip of everything

in the I need u mv we see a lot of content that would later play a big role that you should pay attention on:

- the flowers seokjin holds
- taehyung kllling his father
- hoseok collapsing
- namjoon dy*ng at the gas station
- yoongi dy*ng in the fire
- jungkooks car accident

you should always watch the mvs with the thought in mind that these are different timelines being shown not everything happens at the same time but they are there to show you how everything could turn out if seokjin doesnt save them

in my opinion run events happened before the I need u events that's why the second step would be to watch the run mv & understand how the members LIVED before seokjin started going back in time during April 11th.

run is very very important because that's the first time the smeraldo flower appears which will later be VERY important and it's the first time you can see taehyung as a kind of antagonist for seokjin in this whole event. taehyung destroying the cards and structure seokjin builds

he's the one who seems in some way aware of seokjin trying to being the things back in place and that's important because later he will be the only one aware of seokjin time travlering and causing sisruptsions in the universe

and the next and very important thing to understand the "start" of bu is to watch the prologue

things to pay attention to in the prologue:

- joons message on the mirror "you need to survive" this will be in the notes later referring to what his father told him

- them going to the beach and being happy

- taehyung calling namjoon after kllling his father

everything AND I MEAN EVERYTHING that happens in the prologue happens in the notes but when you read the notes it's much more detailed on what each member thought and better to understand what happened after

and now we get a better picture:

- somehow is trying to change the timeline and save his friends but cannot succeed

- different timelines are being represented

and now is the time where the webtoon comes into place

the save me webtoon is the most reliable way to understand how seokjin time travels and how he canr escape the timeless loop..but beware the content could be very triggering for some so if you do not feel comfortable reading it do not

save me webtoon is a true depictions of different timelines and you can see the events from run and I need u especially ! This means that the events from I need u do not correlate with current timeline anymore not fully at least

what you also notice after reading the webtoon is seokjin realizes more that it's not only HIM saving the members but them saving themselves too he needs all their help they need to save each other too that's what he uses as his best approach and THATS where the notes come in

you can go two ways now

1. You can read the notes from the album first and then watch euphoria then read the notes BOOK

2. You can watch euphoria then read the notes BOOK and then if you want to get context of the whole situation read the notes from the album

to be honest in my opinion there's seemed to be ONE main timeline at the end where seokjin felt like this time he got the constellation right and that he would finally save them that's also the timeline of the highlight reels but later on that

I really REALLY love this one too it's a compilation of all the notes put in a certain order to match the timelines

so after reading the notes and I recommend to read them with the highlight reel soundtracks to make them even sadder we gather A LOT of information. First thing after that is to watch the highlight reels bc they go perfectly with the end of the notes

now that we understand the context of the highlight reels in my opinion we see the most successful timeline seokjin achieved. But that was a timeline where they all separated their ways and this is why it failed

What's best to watch after in my opinion is the wings short film to truly get a grasp of what goes on in the members head why they react this way. I think wings era was a true step to adulthood it showed their transition to it really well especially tae and seokjin

so now we can understand better what EXACTLY is the conflict in their minds. I would really really recommend on reading the books "Demian" by Hermann Hesse you can understand it 100 times better with the book in mind and emil Sinclair's feelings being projected in wings too

and then after this I would recommend on reading the map of the soul notes. because now it shows a complete new timeline where things are not exactly the same as the old notes 1

okay also side note because I completely forgot but before the map of the soul notes I would watch the bst mv obviously 🥺 bc that's part of the wings era and its implications as well as the concert vcr for wings tour

to add to that all vcrs of concerts play a big role in the universe you should watch all if you can
